When I would spell my name, I would then say, "Like the chainsaw". As any good teacher would do, I gave a visual. With some regularity, there was a smart mouth who would say, "Oh, I see the resemblance" at which point, I would say, "Wait a moment and you'll feel the resemblance". Jaws dropped. Ba-da-bum! I loved the show!
When the Whittier Law School asked me to write an article with the topic of my choice, I carefully wrote Special Education Is a Hostage Crisis. That was months ago. I regularly had contact with the staff.
When I saw it, I had several options in terms of responding:
- I could get angry. Nope, not worth being angry over.
- I could be disappointed. A little.
- Upset. A little.
- Humorously. Ok, that's a fit.
I decided to poke fun at myself and my "history" with my name, my married name, the name I love and respect. Here I am having fun with "life".
Now that I've given this "presentation", I doubt if anyone will forget how to spell it.
If you'd like a copy of the full article, let me know and I'll get one to you.
