They set aside the time, were prepared and made it easier on themselves by getting rid of distractions. The kids went to grandmas or were settled into their rooms with unlimited pizza and a day's worth of videos.
Organization is important. It gives a sense of calm and control and reduces frustration. Frustration leads to aggression, so control the controllable.
Identify the project that must get done. Determine the plan, buy the necessary materials and establish the time frame. Have a Plan B if the babysitter doesn’t show up. Don’t wait until the last minute. Be prepared for the inevitable problems. One step at a time. It’s how life works. The important thing is to get started.
