Pornography used to be thought of as a coming of age for boys, but it’s more harmful than we thought, especially since new research has shown that a man’s negative attitude towards women may be determined by the age he was when he was first exposed to it.
The results indicated that the men who were most aggressive and dominating towards women were the ones who first watched at a young age.
Because of their young age, they misinterpreted the images. As a result, viewing that content sets up unrealistic and degrading attitudes about real-life intimate relationships.
Since you can’t control everything your child sees, have an open discussion around age 13 which is the average age of first exposure.
