Do you give a little less to your family so you can get a degree? Or, do you sacrifice your own goals to give them what you think they need? We call this “competing needs”.
Ask yourself, “What is my plan?”
Find out exactly what’s required to get that degree and develop a reasonable time frame. Slow and steady wins the race.
Present the plan to your spouse and then, to the kids. Ask them what they can do to help. Begin the process and refine the plan as you go along.
Hold brief family meetings weekly to check in with everybody. Take a break from classes now and again just to catch your breath.
When you finish, the kids will be proud of helping you.
If you don’t go for it, you’ll be resentful. Everybody can have what they want and need. It takes team work to make the dream work.
