The cost to society is also high with 37% of them being so disconnected they never finish their education. They don’t have jobs and don’t receive services to help them find jobs even if they have skills.
A total of 50,000 citizens with autism turn 18 every year.
The educational and vocational systems are very, very far behind in developing programs to help them meaningfully integrate into society. This often falls to families to develop community-based programs.
Get involved or donate to those parents in the community who are working hard to find a place for their adult autistic children.
It's no one's fault and it’s everyone’s responsibility.
