Teenagers lose weight when they are ready, not to please their parents or impress their peers.
Be supportive and create an environment where they can meet the goals they, themselves, have established.
No need to get complicated. Just have fresh fruits and veggies, chicken and fish in the house. Obviously, no soda, minimal snacks and sweets will help reduce temptation.
Take a brief walk every day with them to reduce anxiety and burn calories. It may just help your relationship, too!
Offer support with a nutritional counselor or an exercise coach.
Most importantly, let your teen lead the way. What may seem like a helpful suggestion, may backfire on you. Stay on the sidelines!
