James called in about re-connecting with a cousin. They were both raised by his grandparents. She has rejected any of his attempts for the past 9 years to re-connect and he wants to know how to bring her around.
From the story of her childhood, she may be experiencing an attachment disorder and it's very unlikely that any "reconnection" will happen. She is likely too compromised from not having a nurturing childhood. She just doesn't know how.
And, because her social skills were so deficit, she's not likely to have been successful academically or economically and she may have deteriorated into substance abuse.
I encouraged him to take his love and care and spread it around his own community, perhaps in ways to keep other kids from living lives of want and insecurity.
