There are 2 times in life when you’re vulnerable to drowning-when you’re younger than 5 years and when you’re between 15 and 25.
Young children die because they’re not being watched carefully enough and the 15 to 25 year olds, mostly males, drown during recreational activities at lakes, beaches and rivers where alcohol or drugs are involved.
Three hundred fifty kids under the age of five drown in pools yearly.
Drowning is a quiet death. No splashing, no screaming. Seconds count.
Once water is taken into the lungs, even after the first gasp, serious damage starts happening. It takes a full medical team to save their lives.
Keep your kids within arm’s reach when you’re in the water.
