At first, I was really critical about adult coloring books. Even mean-spirited about them, after all, who’s got time for this nonsense?
But then, I had a different idea.
You can sit down and color for just a few minutes and let your mind wander. It’s freeing because it’s not goal oriented.
Letting your mind wander and shifting gears from what you were doing to just coloring releases dopamine. Dopamine contributes to the reward system and when dopamine flows, you’re more creative.
If you have a problem that you’re stuck on, coloring just may help you get unstuck.
Some people think that coloring may bring us back to that nostalgic time in elementary school when life was easy giving us a break from the pressures of adulthood.
Coloring is healthier than boozing it up and it is, after all, art and art is inherently worthwhile. So, color away and give your brain a rest. You deserve it.
