I’m describing a narcissist. We’ve all had them in our lives. But, they actually know they’re narcissistic!
They know that others frown upon their arrogance. They seem to understand that they make good first impressions which rapidly sour.
Unfortunately, change is difficult for them to make because they overestimate their status and believe that others respect them. As well, they think their arrogance is a plus and that they’re worthy of being appreciated by others.
Therapy is challenging because narcissists don’t correctly interpret their behavior nor do they accurately understand the motivations, intentions, emotions and behaviors of others.
If you have a narcissist in your family, consider going to therapy to learn all you can about how they operate. Don’t get sucked into their drama.
