Are you the modern day Goldilocks trying to get your kids’ screen time “just right” so that it benefits their brain, but doesn’t destroy their health? Join the club.
Researchers recently reported that the “just right” amount depends on the device and the day of the week.
Moderate levels of use, one to two hours a day during the week with an hour more a day during the weekend for screen time might be beneficial.
Television and movie viewing may require more time since shows and films have finite ends, unless, of course, you’re binge watching to catch up on your favorite series.
These guidelines follow the common sense approach of “all things in moderation” depending on your circumstances.
A bowl of ice cream is fine unless you’re diabetic. A glass of wine is great unless you’re an alcoholic or 12 years old.
Parents, the digital age is upon us. Take into account the whole picture and use common sense before you pull the plug.
