Introversion is not shyness. Introversion is innate, but shyness is influenced by the environment. 30% of people are introverted.
Shyness is a form of anxiety and shy people avoid social situations.
Introverts aren’t afraid; they just prefer not to engage. Their relationships are deep and rewarding. They’re better at listening, are cautious, deliberate and make smarter decisions. They’re also better gamblers!
Extroverts are like addicts, constantly seeking stimuli. Caution must be taken to not socialize quiet kids. There’s nothing wrong with them.
Parents, don’t fret over your quiet child. Sensitive encouragement helps them to socialize comfortably. If you’re a parent with an extroverted personality, you may not enjoy a “good fit” with your child. Accept the differences. They’ll be just fine.
