Oh, the miracles of science that happen by accident! The scientists who discovered this miracle protein were actually working on a project regarding antibiotics!
So far, trials using this protein have had positive results in treating bladder cancer and next, the doctors will be moving onto bowel and cervical cancers.
The protein attacks the cancer cells in several ways, basically, waves of attack. First, it cleverly avoids the cancer cell's outer defenses. Second, it targets the cells' engines called "mitochondria" and third, to the "commander" which gives instructions, the "nucleus". These attacks cause the cell to commit suicide, a process called apoptosis.

Medicines once thought, actually known to be dangerous, like thalidomide, are now being applied in unique ways to treat deadly illnesses such as multiple myeloma.
