Ah, those unintended consequences.
It’s not that we suffer from a failure of imagination because there’s just no way to imagine how digital devices could impact our lives.
We just couldn’t see that the constant forward tilt of the head would shift weight from the spine to the muscles at the back of the head to cause boney horns to develop at the lower back of our skull.
Yes, we’re growing horns.
We’ve seen other physical and psychological conditions resulting from being “coupled” constantly with our cell phones, but this is the first time we’ve seen a serious deformity in posture. This deformity can cause chronic headaches and pain in the upper neck and back.
We have text neck which contributes to a double chin at a very young age and text thumb which is comparable to carpal tunnel syndrome. I’m sure more surprises will pop up.
