Scientists at Harvard and MIT, if you can believe, have studied it and now, say parents should let their kids eat their boogers. You heard me.
Apparently, boogers contain “a rich reservoir of good bacteria”. Also, eating snot helps to keep bacteria from sticking to teeth and could defend against respiratory infections, stomach ulcers and even HIV.
Get this. Researchers are working on a synthetic mucus toothpaste and chewing gum to harness the dental benefits of boogers.
We evolved under very dirty conditions. Our current sterile environment isn’t working to our advantage.
People who pick their noses are healthier and happier.
Medically, it makes great sense since the nose is a filter of the immune system where lots of bacteria are collected. When this mixture arrives in the gut, it works just like medicine.
And, here you thought Milk of Magnesia tasted bad.
