I can’t decide if those tv ads during football games make me sad or mad. To have expensive television ads running to encourage kids to play outside is just disturbing.
When kids spend a lot of time on the computer or other digital medium, they’re missing out on a whole lot more than just physical development.
They miss out on face-to-face interactions and fail to learn the subtle aspects of human communications. Their overall development is stunted.
We have no idea how this will impact them later in life, but they’re likely to be socially and emotionally immature with very low frustration tolerance.
Video games give immediate feedback and reward; that’s not true of life.
Video games are exciting, but doing the laundry and grocery shopping isn’t.
Kids have little chance to practice impulse control which could get them into trouble on the job and at home.
Reduce their screen time now so they’re prepared for life later.
