Before we became farmers, people were hunters and gatherers.
For the hyperactive child, a hunter, it’s important to constantly monitor the environment, be able join in the chase at a second’s notice, have remarkable stamina to chase down the deer, be independent, willing to take risks and face danger, choose decision making over politeness and be able to envision a goal.
The child with the inattentive type of ADHD, or farmer, is organized, aware of time, able to pace himself, show task persistence, patience and not be distractible. They’re team players. They’re nurturing, careful and supportive of their communities. They take care of business.
So, whether your child is a hunter or a farmer, we need all kinds in our human village. Just a different perspective.
