In your later years, faith may play an increasing role in how good you feel.
If you feel that you’re in sync with a higher power, you enjoy greater satisfaction and happiness in your life. The more attached you feel to G-d, the more your well-being will increase when you pray.
Perceptions and interpretations of a higher power are different for each faith and each person within that faith.
It’s not an automatic process and people who are not predisposed to prayer may experience adverse effects, so don’t push it.
If your perception of G-d assumes that He is responsive, loving, supporting, trustworthy, everywhere and all-knowing, then prayer may be a life-enhancing experience.
Older people who are approaching the end of their lives see prayer as a chance to make amends and seek forgiveness. For them, prayer may provide considerable comfort and assurance.
