Get hungry late at night and eat junk? Giving into those temptations is causing a host of problems.
Eating late interferes with the sleep cycle which then contributes to craving even more high carb and fat foods.
Sleep has an important role in regulating metabolism.
This cycle of snacking and poor sleep results in obesity which can cause diabetes and heart problems. You snack and then, your blood sugar, blood pressure and heart rate go up. Not exactly sleepy-time conditions.
Got a full belly? You’re gonna have trouble falling asleep. If you go to bed before digesting your food, you just might end up with acid reflux or indigestion.
It’s recommended that you stop eating at least two hours before bed time to give your gut a chance to start digesting before laying down.
Here’s a thought. While you’re working toward ending this cycle, prepare some light, nutritious snacks for when that impulsive need strikes.
