When I talked with a digital security expert about keeping kids safe online, he indicated that it’s about consistency and keeping up with technology.
Parents need to stop browsing for the latest gossip and learn as much as they can about how kids get around your best intentions in order to access online content.
The predators work hard to find ways to engage and record your kids.
He shared that most parents have no idea how to monitor devices remotely.
They need to be consistent in tracking all correspondence from Skype to direct messaging or WeChat.
Parents need to stop showing the world photos of their kids and talking about them.
Parents should maintain very strong privacy settings. Screen time should be limited and parents need to have passwords and access to all accounts on all devices.
If a predator gets to your kids, it’s because you didn’t know how to prevent it.
