While there’s been a decrease in hospitalizations for chronic pain since marijuana was legalized, there’s been a 10% increase in pot-related car accidents and injuries.
Medical marijuana is now legal in 28 states and 9 of these states have legalized it for recreational use. At the federal level, it’s still illegal.
Since the laws have changed, data can be collected regarding hospitalizations for millions of people to determine if the impact of legalization and widespread use of marijuana hurts the public at large.
This data can also help agencies to create educational programs that warn about driving under the influence of pot and the potential for becoming addicted to other drugs.
It’s always something.
