Women need more sleep because we use our brains more than men. Part of this need is related to the fact that we have more complex wiring than men.
Our prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that’s responsible for planning and organizing everything in everyone’s world, is larger than men’s.
Studies show that we need about 20 more minutes sleep than men do, so take a nap at work. If you don’t, you’ll end up slogging through the rest of the day and it won’t be pretty.
Don’t drink caffeine at lunch. In the afternoon, go to your car or a quiet place, put in ear plugs, maybe a sleep mask to block the light, listen to an audio book or just be quiet and still. Set an alarm for 20 minutes.
Just getting off the hamster wheel for a bit will help you to function with more ease and efficiency. And, you’ll be so much more pleasant in the evening with your family. So, ladies, get your nap on!
