There’s a price to pay for acts of omission, where you leave out part of the truth, or acts of commission, where you outrightly lie.
People were asked to stop lying for 10 weeks. The results indicated they felt better, physically. They felt less tense, didn’t have headaches or sore throats or stomachaches.
They reported their close personal relationships improved and social interactions were more satisfying because they didn't lie!
Lying in healthy people, not sociopaths, causes physical changes including higher blood pressure and heart rate all of which stresses the immune system.
The emotional cost for lying is depression and anxiety.
Those with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder lie frequently because they just aren’t monitoring what they’ve done. They lie out of shame of not remembering.
The truth of it is, lying isn’t healthy. Practice truth every day.
