Areas of the brain related to reward and arousal become sensitive to infant behavior. Mother’s brain is wired to hear her own baby over a roomful of strangers’ babies.
By 3 months, mothers and babies have become attuned to each other’s faces. By the time baby is 5 months old, mother will respond within 2 seconds of its cry.
These biological changes and parenting behaviors are seen across all cultures and are designed to increase emotional attachment of mother to child to ensure the infant’s survival.
It doesn’t matter if mother is living on the plains of Africa or the plains of middle America, her brain is wired to give everything she’s got for her child.
