Yep, perfectionistic people are in pain and they are a pain.
Perfectionism is the need to be perfect. Anything less is unacceptable. It’s tough to finish something if perfection is the goal.
Perfectionists’ standards are well beyond reach and reason. Their worth is entirely bound up in accomplishments.
People with Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder are preoccupied with order, rules and details, and are excessively devoted to work at the expense of personal relationships. They’re rigid, stubborn, frugal and inflexible about morality and values.
Being overly conscientious doesn’t allow them to delegate tasks.
Hoarding results when they can’t throw anything away.
Perfectionistic people develop anger, depression, eating disorders, and social anxiety.
It runs in families, so if you see these traits emerging in someone you love, get help. They won’t get better on their own. Treatment is effective!
