I never turned them down. They’d ask all kinds of questions, but most of them were about marijuana use. Their teens were telling them, “Marijuana makes me more creative and I can think better”. What parent doesn’t want that for their child?
The kids were scamming them, of course. Creativity requires divergent thinking which is the process whereby you generate as many problem-solving options as possible.
Convergent thinking is a “narrowing down” process.
Extensive research has proven that even a low dose of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, has a negative effect on problem-solving.
You’re not likely to convince your teens of that fact, but continuing to alert them to the potential dangers of weed through educating yourself, may deter them somewhat. It’s all you can do.
