Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions including high blood pressure, high blood sugar and cholesterol and abdominal fat. These conditions together increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes. You may not notice it until serious problems set in.
If you eat fried food, primarily meat and breads and drink a soda daily, you’ve got a 34% greater risk of metabolic syndrome.
Diet sodas contribute to the syndrome because they taste sweeter than real sugar. After a while, sugar and fruit don’t taste sweet. Artificial sweeteners affect your body just like sugar. Eating sugar starts the fat storage process leading to weight gain.
Combat metabolic syndrome, get your kids moving and slowly introduce a healthier diet.
