
Oh, the unintended consequences.
Marijuana has been legalized, decriminalized and commercialized, but we still don’t have much in the way of reliable data regarding the long-term use of the wacky weed. However, some of the research about consistent use is alarming.
Brain scans reveal that smoking pot, on average, ages the brain by nearly 3 years.
Brain aging is defined as reduced blood flow and reduced blood flow is associated with dementia and stroke.
Drinking alcohol excessively ages the brain by about 7 months. Bipolar disorder and ADHD speed up the decline of the brain by about 18 months.
Mental disorders affect different parts of the brain and, now, we see that smoking weed negatively impacts blood flow.
Even though it’s legal, marijuana may not be safe.
