Social jet lag.
That’s the difference in time when you both go to bed and wake up later on the weekends. Turns out, your body doesn’t like shifting gears that fast.
Social jet lag causes overall poor health, irritable mood and lethargy. And what’s worse is that for every hour of sleep thrown off by this jet lag, the chances of having heart disease increase by a whopping 11%!
Sleep regularity, not just duration, has a significant role in our health.
It’s strongly recommended that adults should sleep at least 7 hours a night and not play catch up.
While sleep debt can be paid, so to speak, there’s still a price to pay. That price includes insomnia, fatigue, sleepiness and heart disease. These conditions and diseases will hit you when you’re in the prime of your life and your responsibilities are intense.
