23,000,000 Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 are living with their parents due to unemployment and high student debt. This is the highest number in the modern era.
I had an about 10 years ago and it's been working pretty well. I ask these young people to offer their services free of charge. The strategy is for them to work at a business in which they majored.
I suggest that they let the human resources department know they want to see what the reality of the job is like and agree to sign on for at least 2 months. Negotiate like crazy to get a foot in the door.
This effort is healthy on several levels. It gets them out into the world of work and work gives meaning to life. They learn from the people who work there about their choices and if they’d make a change. They see what the employees do every day and if they prove that they can get up, dress up and show up with a great attitude, they might just be hired.
Go get ‘em!
