The American Academy of Pediatricians has guidelines about tattoos.
1.Discuss with your kid the design they want and the location they want to put it.
2. Point out that certain art may limit the kind of places where they can get a job even though tattoos are becoming widely accepted.
3. Review the health risks such as infections and allergic reactions.
4. Learn about the laws for minors getting ink which vary from state to state.
5. Find a shop that’s regulated and inspected.
6. Clear instructions about caring for the site should be provided.
7. Make sure their immunizations are up-to-date, especially Hepatitis B, to protect from infection.
8. Learn, in advance, where to go to treat an infection.
9. Go with your teen and stay with them.
10. Make sure new needles and ink are used and packages are opened in front of you.
A tattoo shop should be as clean as a dentist’s office.
