Bullying and constant pressure to measure up are two of the causes and social media may be responsible for the biggest spike in suicides for teen girls in 42 years?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the suicide rate for girls between ages 14 and 19 has doubled between 2007 and 2015 and it has tripled for girls ages 12 to 14 in that same time frame.
Depression doesn’t usually scream for help, but it’s not depression that kills them.
It’s hopelessness.
Are they trapped in a situation without an escape?
Are they talking about death?
Being sad or upset?
Sit them down. Use their language. Their brains aren’t formed. They may not appreciate the permanence of death. Make sure they do.
Give them reasons to hold onto life.
