A woman wrote in about the fact that her skin is looking great during the quarantine. She wondered if it was sleep...hydration...no commute...or less aggravation.
Yeah, it's mostly sleep. Sleep deprivation causes cortisol, a very corrosive stress hormone to dump which results in an inflammatory response which enhances fine lines, is partly responsible for uneven pigmentation (that's "code" for splotchy) and reduced plasticity.
You don't want that...
I referenced bakuchiol (bah-koo-kee-ol) which is a derivative of Vitamin A like Retinol, but doesn't irritate the skin like Retinol can. It's a natural, plant-based product. A NYC dermatologist recommends to get a product with bakuchiol and Vitamin C and the final step is to use an oil on your face. This process not only enhances the skin, but guards against moisture loss.
The skin's stem cells grow and rejuvenate between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. and they're very receptive to skin care products during that time.
Obviously, check with your dermatologist before using anything new on your skin.
There ya' go!
