Well, this is an attractive and inspiring image! A woman wrote in about quitting smoking, but her husband is still at it and has even increased his alcohol consumption.
The sad fact is that we cannot make anyone change no matter how much we threaten, cajole, or serve as a positive role model.
We can only love and support them, but NOT ENABLE THEM!
I cautioned her to set firm boundaries about smoking around her or in the house. She needs to stay in her own lane and keep herself healthy and moving forward in her own personal growth and make sure that the hefty insurance policy she gets for him stays paid up and enforced.
I mentioned the myriad of "just-for-fun" Death Clocks available online, but that if she wanted some accurate information, she should work through the biological age calculator linked here. Have an accurate scale to measure her weight and a cloth measuring tape (a dressmaker's tape) to take neck, waist, hips and chest measurement.
Get serious about taking steps to improve your life expectancy. May as well feel good as you take the walk of life.

A Momma wrote in about her 15-year old son who prompted the family to go into therapy due to "behavioral problems". After 6 months of therapy, the recommendation was made to have a comprehensive assessment conducted because the therapist wasn't sure "what" she was looking at. She narrowed it down to either schizophrenia or autism.
I suggested that he may be an emerging Schizotypal Personality Disorder. Although personality disorders, in general, aren't diagnosed until age 18 because the personality is still evolving, an evaluation will be helpful to determine his profile of strengths and weaknesses. If he is experiencing delusional or hallucinatory behaviors, a medical management plan can be implemented.
Essentially, my initial goal would be to stop the deterioration from becoming full-on schizophrenia.
Areas of focus would be on developing social and coping skills and to educate parents about ways to reduce his anxiety.
This family is in very serious distress. It may help them to learn more about Schizotypal Personality Disorder by doing an extensive online search focusing on only those legitimate medical/psychological sources.
