"Mom" and "Dad", "Mother" and "Father", "Grandpa" and "Grandma" should be capitalized.
We should be proper nouns.

Isn't every Mother and Father "one-of-a-kind"? Why yes, yes, we are!
The greeting card companies have it right. Have you noticed the display in the local drugstore? See any "Mom" or "Dad" birthday or holiday card with a lower case "m" or "d"? No, you don't.
They know better. They know that the Mom and Dad, Mother or Father that you are buying the card for is, indeed, one-of-a-kind.

If you've read any of my previous posts, you know that I capitalize Mom and Dad and I indicate, in parenthesis, "capitalization intended!".
This is just a "thing" for me. I think we deserve capital letters. And because my parents had me and I went on to be a Mom, Grandpa and Grandma deserve to be capitals, too.
