Detaching from work leads to a clearer mind and results in higher life satisfaction and lower burnout. But, it’s really difficult to get back in the game on Monday, after a 3-day weekend, a holiday or even from day-to-day. Why is it so hard?
It’s because we’re not taking steps to “reconnect” with our work life. Face it, most of us have to work.
You’ve seen the bumper stick that says, “I owe, I owe, so off to work I go!” We may as well embrace the horror and make it easier on ourselves. Remember, you get good at what you practice.
If we actively “reconnect” with work by reviewing our goals, stating that we’re energetic about achieving them, and that we’re excited and interested, we’ll train ourselves to engage and the return to work will be less painful.
Reattachment results in more positive interactions, greater satisfaction and stronger feelings of control in your job. Give it a try.
