You do it very frequently, you aren’t usually aware of it and you just can’t help yourself. You gesture with your hands when you talk; you bite on the pencil while you think; you pace about when talking on the phone and you bite your lip when considering your options.
Children, especially those with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, require movement opportunities to help them release this energy without attracting unwanted attention.
These kids work best if they’re asked to perform jobs both in and out of the classroom to break up extensive work periods.
At home, doing homework in several different places like the bed, floor and at the desk may help them be more productive. They might benefit from a standing desk so they can move their bodies as they work.
Get creative. Help them manage their energy!
