Follow-up research revealed a strong biological link between having older brothers and being gay. The incidence rate being about 1 in 7 men.
The more brothers a man has, the likelier he is to be gay. Every older brother a man has increases his chances of being homosexual by 33%.
The reason for this relationship is unknown, but it’s suspected that mother’s immune system may “remember” certain male factors.
These factors are communicated through hormones or immune proteins across the placenta in later pregnancies which influence fetal brain development toward homosexuality.
This is further evidence that being gay is not a choice. Being gay is no one’s fault, but it’s the family’s responsibility to help the gay child become a healthy gay teen and adult.
