Absolutely! I think Fear drives many decisions made by children and if not understood and addressed with a child, it carrys over into adulthood .

You are so right, Barbara. Too many times, parents "dismiss" or minimize their kids' anxiety. I've heard "Oh, I was just like her at her age" and "He'll outgrow it". I believe that it scares parents to see their kids' anxiety because they just don't know what to do about it. A comprehensive assessment, followed by interventions yields the optimal result. Many times, kids don't have a Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Their anxiety arises out of another issue, usually developmental, related to school performance or social issues.
