Women who miscarry are still being told, “You can have another one” by well-intentioned friends and yes, even medical staff. What we want to say, is, “I wanted that one”.
When people say that you shouldn’t feel one way or another, it’s important to speak up because you’ll rage not only over the situation, but also from being denied your feelings about it. Rubbing salt in a heart wound.
Who are we to say how someone should feel? Should I punch you in the arm and tell you, “Oh, that didn’t hurt”? How do I know?
Funny, how we can disagree on art, movies and food, but when it comes to feelings, we want everyone to “stay in their lanes” and not veer off into intense emotions.
Don’t let others get away with this; speak your peace. You teach others how to treat you, so teach them how to be supportive of you.
