Text neck describes the injuries resulting from looking down at wireless devices for too long.
Headaches, upper back pain, shoulder and neck pain and curvature of the spine are symptoms resulting in early onset arthritis, less lung capacity and herniated disks.
We look down to read, but adding one more activity that causes us to look down breaks the camel’s back. Young kids are causing permanent damage to their growing spine.
It’s all about weight. When your head is upright, it weighs 12 pounds. When bent down, it’s 60 pounds.
Look at the angle of your head when texting. Muscles that can handle 12 pounds can’t handle 60. Text neck sets in.
Prevention is the cure. Hold your devices at eye level and take breaks throughout the day. Shoulders back, head up. Don’t be a hunchback!
